Ruthanne Schwartz Fuller, an at-large city councilor from Ward 7, announced her candidacy for Mayor today, after current-Mayor Setti Warren declared he would not seek a third term.

Fuller, who grew up in Detroit and now lives in Chestnut Hill, has been on the council since 2010, and currently serves as vice chairwoman of the Finance Committee. Fuller has worked developing strategic plans for companies and nonprofits.

“I’ve loved being a Newton resident for 22 years, and being in my fourth term on the City Council, and love working for the city, and I think the mayor’s chair is the way to continue making a real impact,” Fuller said.
